About the work
North Cipher Valley Inc. is a small software shop in Greater Sudbury, Ontario. We build mobile apps and web products for clients, and we put our own name on some of what we ship. All of it needs to look like it came from the same place. Right now the visuals get made by whoever has a spare hour. That stops with you.
You’ll be the one person responsible for how everything looks and moves: animated logos, motion graphics for product videos and social, UI design for the apps and web products we build, and the static graphics that fill the gaps. You’ll work directly with the founder, Hannan Max, who sets priorities and reviews your work. You take a brief, ask the questions that matter, and deliver.
Real ownership here means:
- You own the North Cipher Valley brand system: files, colours, type, and motion rules
- You decide how a screen or an animation should look once the goal is agreed
- You hand developers production-ready assets, not screenshots
- Your name is on the work
What you’ll do
- Animate logos and brand marks for app splash screens, video intros, and social
- Motion graphics for product demos, ads, App Store previews, and short-form video
- UI design for the mobile apps and web products we build: screens, components, icons, and flows in Figma
- Static graphics: social posts, landing page sections, pitch decks, and App Store screenshots
- Print and presentation artwork: business cards, letterhead, and pitch decks
- Export for production: Lottie or Rive for in-app animation, SVG and PNG for web and mobile, MP4 for video
- Keep an organized asset library so nothing gets made twice
What we’re looking for
- A portfolio with at least one animated logo and one UI project. Personal or course work counts
- After Effects, or an equivalent you can show finished results from
- Figma for UI: components, auto layout, and prototypes
- Typography, colour, and layout fundamentals you can explain, not just apply
- Basic video editing in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or CapCut
- Your own computer and software licences. We do not provide hardware
- You take a written brief, ask before guessing, and hit the date
Nice to have
- Lottie or Rive export experience
- Illustrator or Affinity Designer for vector and print
- Blender or Cinema 4D
- Handing off to Flutter or web developers
- Sound design or music selection for video
- Product photography
Details
- 30 hours per week, full-time, flexible hours
- Ontario general minimum wage, paid on payroll with a T4: $17.95 per hour from October 1, 2026 ($17.60 per hour until then)
- Remote or hybrid in Ontario
- Ongoing role, not a fixed-term contract
- Bring your own computer and software
This position is on SIN only. You must have a valid Canadian Social Insurance Number and be legally eligible to work in Canada. This is a payroll position with standard deductions. We do not hire contractors, pay by invoice, or pay in cash for this role.
